What is the SPTC?
The Southern Piedmont Technology Council serves the growing technology industry in Southern Virginia, encompassing Patrick, Henry, Franklin, Pittsylvania, Halifax and Mecklenburg counties and the cities of Danville and Martinsville. Our mission is to make the Southern Piedmont one of Virginia's premier technology regions.
SPTC Mission Statement
The Southern Virginia Economic Development Partnership formed the Southern Piedmont Technology Council (SPTC) in 1998. Virginia's Center for Innovative Technology provided seed funding and continues to be the major source of funding for the Tech Council.
Since its inception, the SPTC has been an advocate and voice in stressing the importance of the need for the region to invest in technology. It has focused on serving technology-related needs of the public and private sector, and on raising the awareness to enable the region to accommodate the changing way of doing business, and also to evolve with it. Through its networking meetings, technology programs, legislative hearings, membership and participation in the Virginia Technology Alliance, it has aimed at building on its membership base, educating the community, facilitating discussion with, and increasing Southern Piedmont's exposure to other parts of Virginia.
The Southern Piedmont Technology Council is a regional organization for technology development, awareness, education application, adoption and utilization. Formed to promote the use of technology in Southern Virginia, the Tech Council works primarily with the counties of Franklin, Halifax, Henry, Mecklenburg, Patrick, Pittsylvania, and the cities of Danville and Martinsville.
As we continue to develop opportunities and face challenges, the SPTC needs help and input to ensure that we continue to serve our region. Your participation will help us build on our knowledge base, raise awareness, discern and address needs, ensure ongoing representation in statewide discussions, and maintain the momentum.
