2nd Annual UxS Exposition – AUVSI Hampton Roads

In AAM, the new vehicles and emergent capabilities in aviation enabled by electric propulsion, autonomous systems, and supporting physical and digital infrastructure, are authorizing a new paradigm in mobility for people and cargo.  Companies like Joby, BETA Technologies, Xwing, Reliable Robotics, and (Virginia based) Electra Aero are making rapid progress towards electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft (eVTOL), new capabilities for fixed wing aircraft, remotely piloted autonomous cargo operations, and other innovations that will enable lower cost, safer, sustainable, and improved service to under-served regions and grow the Virginia economy.  These aircraft are flying today with some expected to achieve certification and enter service as soon as 2024.

Spaceflight and aviation activities taking place in Virginia, with our Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport, the NASA Langley Research Center, and the NASA Wallops Flight Facility, are pushing the frontiers of space, enabling AAM, and aiding our understanding of aeronautics.

The Hampton Roads Chapter of AUVSI is hosting a UxS Symposium on September 28-29 at the City Center Marriott in Newport News to explore these innovations, highlight the opportunity for Virginia, and articulate paths forward for greater progress.  The event is also in support of NASA’s 105th anniversary being held in partnership with the Virginia AeroSpace Business Association annual Gala on Sept 29.  A Public Security and Safety focused robotic demonstration day at Fort Monroe, VA will precede the symposium on Sept 27.
