Tech at Lunch - 3D Printing

3D printing was first invented in the 1980s, and since that time has been used for rapid prototyping. 3D printing has started to evolve into a next-generation manufacturing technology that has the potential to allow local on-demand production of products and parts.
On April 10th, Jeremy Beach, PhD Advanced Materials Scientist at the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research (IALR), will highlight the fascinating work being done at IALR with advanced materials and also 3D printing. He will give an overview of additive manufacturing and how it is revolutionizing light manufacturing and many other fields and strengthening the competitive advantage for companies developing new products.
Topics to be discussed include:
  • How does 3D printing work
  • Applications of 3D printing
  • Materials used for additive manufacturing
There will also be a 3D printer on display.
Registration cost: $15 SPTC Members | $20 non-members

Location: Institute for Advanced Learning and Research, 150 Slayton Ave., Danville VA 24540
